Canon BJC-50 Color Bubble Jet Printer Review

I purchased this printer after a very bad experience when I traveled away from home and needed to print out a simple document. So I had my laptop and I saw those ads about a business that offers to be your office away from home. Well, I could not get the document printed out. So I did my research and purchased the BJC-50 since it was the smallest portable printer available at the time (the two Canons and a HP version). My BJC-50 is about seven years old and still works. It worked well with my laptop and Windows 98 and now with my laptops using Windows XP.
PROS:
The BJC-50 is the smallest available travel printer for printing documents and prints at a relatively acceptable speed.
The BJC-50 printer includes a LiON battery which makes for truly portable printing. I'm amazed how long a charge lasts and the battery pack is inside a battery compartment in the printer (not externally like the HP Deskjet 460 series). Well, the LiON battery is piggy back attached to the HP 460. I'm guessing that HP recommends removing the battery before traveling. You don't need to do that with the BJC-50. Just remember to slide the power lock switch on the right side of the BJC-50 to prevent the printer from accidentally turning on when traveling.
CONS:
The REALLY BAD part of this printer is that the ink cartridges, once opened, do not last very long. The color cartridges dry out faster than the black cartridges. And the ink cartridges do not provide feedback to indicate the amount of ink remaining in each cartridge.
The printer is relatively loud when it is printing.
You need to be careful when feeding the paper otherwise the printer ejects the paper.
I cannot get the IS-12 Scanner Cartridge in the BJC-50 printer to communicate with the IS application under Windows XP even though Canon's web site and the Readme file says it is supported (there is a configuration issue somewhere). This is more effort than its worth for now.
SUMMARY: This is one temperamental printer. While it provides convenient printing on the go, I think it takes more effort than it should just to get something printed.
I'm purchasing a HP Deskjet 460WF. I'll let you know how I like it soon.

The [...] Acer Aspire One has the same chipset and graphics card, and matches this computer in every regard, except for two things - Aspire One's ship with only 1 gig of RAM, and Aspire One's don't ship with this operating system.
If you go to Indamixx's website, you can purchase their operating system for [...] as a digital download. If you have any familiarity with installing Linux distros, this would be a great way to save money. If you don't know what Linux is, or you don't know how to install a distro, it might be better to spend an extra [...].
All software involved with this netbook is listed here:[...]
The operating system is the biggest deal on this netbook - but you could probably find another lightweight, real-time Gnome based Linux distro.
TL;DR If an extra [...] is no big deal to you, this is a great choice. But if you're looking to save a few bucks, check out the Acer Aspire One.

Logicube Echo Plus - Hard drive duplicator ( IDE / SATA ) Review

Logicube Echo Plus - Hard drive duplicator ( IDE / SATA )
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We use this device to speed up image deployment- with the help of the Windows Automated Installation Kit, we constructed and generalized a standard image. This image is cloned with the Logicube and we are able to reduce the configuration/deployment time to about 15 minutes total by eliminating the time spent copying files from a DVD or flash drive. The Logicube will copy to a standard SATA disk at about 2.5GB/sec. Add to that the time it will take to scan both disks, power them up, error check, etc. This device clones a standard windows 7 install (12-15GB with installed software)in about 5 minutes on clever mode.
The Logicube also comes in handy with touchy, older equipment. When I start to see signs of drive failures- bad sectors, failing SMART tests, etc. I simply clone the old drive to a new one, run CHKDSK, and begin using the new disk.
I also use the device to blank drives before disposal, by doing a block level copy of a virgin disk.
This device is by far the easiest to use and most dependable I have used- my average interaction with it consists of pushing the "start|stop" button once to wake it up, once to start the copy.
Money well spent!

Core 2 Duo T7600 Mobile Processor Review

Core 2 Duo T7600 Mobile Processor

I purchased this processor to replace the T5500 in my HP Pavillion laptop after the laptop warranty expired. Noticed an immediate performance increase and shorter wait times for most applications under Vista. Installation not for the unqualified and untrained though - antistatic protection and procedures are needed to ensure you don't damage either the processor or the system board during installation.

I upgraded to this processor from a Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0 GHz 6M L2 Cache 1333MHz FSB LGA775 Dual-Core Processor. This processor is an amazing upgrade. I recommend the RAM for this processor Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 XMS3 6 GB 3 x 2 GB PC3-10666 1333MHz 240-Pin DDR3 Core i7 Memory Kit. This is one serious processor, the cost in my opinion is totally worth it. Just like all black box Intel processors this one is for serious gaming/ video editing. There are several Intel Core i7 processors out there that are more moderate and significantly less costly. You will see amazing boot times and access times that are really short. Games have no stutters or any significant lag.
I got a 3D Mark Vantage score of around 19,000 amazing!
Lets get to the specs:

Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000 Handheld PC Review

Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000 Handheld PC
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Overall, this is an excellent product for people who don't need a full price, full weight notebook while travelling, but rather something with which to take basic notes, do scheduling and e-mail and simple web browsing, and also, especially, reading books downloaded from the web. Pluses are the very usable keyboard, the amazing battery life, and the screen, which while not great for graphics, is fine for text. The feature which allows you to fold the screen down over the keyboard, and use it as a tablet, is fantastic. Download a book, and set the browser at the largest font, hold the machine as a tablet, and you can comfortably read for hours, just like reading a book (although the machine, while light, is heaviest on top, which is a little awkward). For twice the cost of the RocketBook, you get just as good a screen, and word processing, scheduling and internet capacity to boot. Of course, this is too large and heavy to function as a real handheld. And there are the frustrating limits of all Windows CE machines, especially a Word program which is not just stripped down, but castrated (no page numbers, search function or footnotes). The process of connecting to desktop PCs is easy, but slower than it needs to be. But overall, this is a great little machine.

THE FIRST PARAGRAPH IS AN UPDATE (2/14/10)FOR A REVIEW SEVERAL MONTHS AGO
This tablet just lost it's LCD backlight, 25 days or so after the warranty expired. Luckily it looks as though I can get it repaired locally in Dallas (for $200-$300 it seems) so I won't have to have the HD wiped clean and then have to reinstall all my software.
This is the third - scratch that - fourth Gateway Tablet PC I've purchased. Two are replacements for two that had to be sent to Gateway for repairs under warranty.
The computers work very well for my business, but unfortunately, when one goes down under warranty (not a matter of if, but when) it can take up to a month (including shipping time back and forth) before it is returned. No matter what the problem, the hard drive is wiped clean, and you'll have to start over. A killer for a business.
I had to spend about $1000 the first time it happened - the tablet was the only computer I had in my business, so I had to buy another one while it was in "the shop" getting it's power supply replaced. Got it back working just fine, but now it was an extra machine that sat for another 14 months in a closet because I didn't have use for a second computer.
Gateway doesn't have a loaner program, rentals or any type of customer service regarding warranty repairs whatsoever. In the two most recent cases (one that malfunctioned one day after purchase, and one that started 7 days afterward, but was diagnosed as a software problem for a few weeks) I paid for all shipping, cleanup and everything else. This last time I ended up with a machine that was 32 days old, and therefore could not be returned for a refund.
